Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.   Philippians 4:8

Technical Prowess in Musicianship

Due to being a musician/singer myself (I sing, play guitar, bass & piano & can also kick a basic beat on the drums), I tend to have an extreme admiration of technical prowess in musicianship, thus explaining my great appreciation for music ranging from Classical to Heavy Metal, for along with Jazz & Flamenco guitar (which I really like a lot), these genres tend to show the most technical ability of musicianship, more so I feel than most other styles of music.

Hard Rock/Metal tends to combine a lot of other musical elements quite often, maybe more so than any other genres, & many people who don't give it a true listen don't realize that several Rock/Metal musicians are actually some of the greatest musicians & vocalists in the world.  If they were playing Opera or Classical music on a stage instead of Rock or Metal, they would most likely be greatly recognized the world over for their talents & abilities, instead of often being looked down upon by some people for their musical choice of heavy sounding grooves & loud distorted guitars & soaring vocals.  There are actually several Symphonic Metal bands out there that are very operatic in their vocals & music, such as the bands NightWish & Evanescence, etc., & a lot of bands that do entire "Rock Opera" style concept albums, such as some of my personal favorites Queensryche, Savatage, RUSH & Queen, just to name a few.  Several Rock/Metal vocalists could easily pull off Opera with their multi-octave voices, just look at what Queen did for instant proof of that, in fact their singer Freddie Mercury actually did some Opera.

Many Rock/Metal guitarists also have a neo-classical style to their playing - Yngwie Malmsteen is quite well known for his Classical influences & pieces of work & is by far one of the fastest, most technical guitarists ever, you will also find several Rock/Metal bands that have done concerts & Live albums/shows with full Symphony Orchestras such as The Scorpions & Metallica, etc.  Guitarist Andy Timmons is a perfect example of a very talented & technically skilled Rock musician, I have seen him play with extremely diverse & talented musicians & hold his own easily with them all, everything from extreme country "chicken pickin", to deep blues, to metal & classical & even jamming with a guy on a sitar & chapman stick, something you absolutely wouldn't expect if you only know him from the Rock band Danger Danger.

You may not know it but there are several incredible musicians in Rock/Metal that have gone to the prestigious higher learning music institutes like Juilliard School of Music, Berklee College of Music & Musicians Institute: College of Contemporary Music, & many even teach music on those high levels as well...Let me just say this, only the best of the best are at that level!
